West Los Angeles UMC meets you where you are in your spiritual journey, offering introductory gatherings, Bible and book studies, Advent & Lenten studies, spiritual gift discernment, prayer groups, grief/bereavement support, mindfulness meditation, and casual fellowship opportunities. Monthly “Faith at the Movies” gatherings screen popular movies with discussion following. The SF&CE team coordinates retreats, panel discussions, educational forums, senior wellness programs, and activities with other ministry groups to enhance participants’ spiritual walk, introduce new spiritual practices, and provide compassionate care.

Nurturing Heart & Soul Is it well with your soul? These are compassion-based and trauma-informed small groups focusing on spiritual growth and contemplative practices, storytelling, and other forms of expression that acknowledge and explore intersectional issues of diversity, justice, inclusion, and wellness. Previous programs included creative writing with LGBTQiA+ friends, gatherings for lament and prayer for racial justice, pandemic wellness, and Blue Christmas connections.
